Abstract

The article examines the kinship terms, properties and matrimony in the Slavic languages of different subgroups: East Slavic (Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian), West Slavic (Czech and Polish) and South Slavic (Bulgarian), which are the embodiment of key kinship relations for any ethnic group.

The aim of the study is to analyze the terminological system of kinship in the above-mentioned languages, as well as to identify their ethnocultural specifics and compare the ways of lexical designation of family group members in these languages.

The authors have analyzed the terms of kinship, properties and matrimony in Slavic languages not only from the point of view of their common lexical roots, but also the process of changing the phonetic composition of terms under the influence of cultural and historical events.
