Abstract

With the world’s fast development and globalization, trans-cultural communications become more and more important. Translation is the best way to promote the effect of these communications. Since literary works are the best carriers of culture, translation in this field would count for much as a significant and profound action, among which translating historical books plays quite an important role. Among China’s historical books, most of the officially authorized ones represented by the Twenty-four Histories have been presented in a series of biographies. Based on the data collected from current translating activities in the modern world, this paper is to research on the meaning and significance of translating history presented in a series of biographies, with the typical one, Chen Shou’s “Records of the Three Kingdoms”, as a specific example.
