Expression with Chinese characteristics, Translation strategy, “Government Work Report (2022)”, Cultural translation theory.

From the perspective of cultural translation, this thesis will take the vocabulary with Chinese characteristics in the “Government Work Report (2022)” as the research object, and use research methods such as literature review method and exemplification to divide vocabulary with Chinese characteristic into three categories: abbreviations, expression with new concept as well as idiom and allusions. Typical cases of each category are selected to study and analyse the translation strategies and methods of vocabulary with Chinese characteristic from the two aspects: the retention of cultural image and the substitution of cultural image. This study hopes to answer two questions: (1) How translators adopt appropriate translation strategies to address the cultural functional equivalence of the source language and the target language? (2) What is the scope of application of different translation methods in the translation process? It has certain reference for the translation of vocabulary with Chinese characteristic in the later direction of cultural translation.
